Comprehensive domestic violence support & services in Chicago and West Cook County

Sarah’s Inn was founded in 1980 by a group of concerned women in River Forest and Oak Park, to address a lack of services for victims of domestic violence and their families. The agency has since grown to become one of the largest and most comprehensive domestic violence agencies serving Chicago and 22 surrounding West Cook County suburban communities.

Sarah’s Inn provides immediate, confidential support to survivors of domestic violence through crisis intervention, advocacy, and safety planning. Our 24-hour crisis line connects individuals with trained advocates who offer emotional support, resources, and guidance tailored to their unique situations. We help survivors navigate emergency shelter, legal protection, and long-term recovery, ensuring they have the tools to regain control and build a safer future.
Breaking the cycle of violence starts with education and community engagement. Our Violence Prevention & Youth Committee works with schools, youth organizations, and local leaders to empower young people with the knowledge and skills to foster healthy relationships. Through interactive workshops and peer-led initiatives, we help prevent dating violence, bullying, and other forms of abuse by promoting respect, communication, and positive conflict resolution.

Creating a safer community begins with awareness and action. Sarah’s Inn offers comprehensive training and education programs for professionals, educators, and community members to recognize the signs of domestic violence and respond effectively. Our workshops provide valuable insights into survivor advocacy, trauma-informed care, and strategies for preventing abuse. By equipping individuals with knowledge and resources, we foster a culture of support, intervention, and lasting change.
“Sarah's Inn has helped me become more confident and independent. The future is bright now!”
